YourStance is a not for profit Community Interest Company that brings together experienced health professionals to share knowledge and teach young people vulnerable to serious youth violence, how to perform basic life support, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and bleed control techniques. Our mission is to empower communities to save lives and eradicate needless deaths through our 'Zero Responder' workshops.

YourStance are a team of experienced doctors and nurses teaching young people at risk of serious youth violence, how to respond to an emergency in London. We teach vulnerable young people aged 11 - 25 how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and haemorrhage control becoming 'Zero Responders' before a first responder is able to arrive.

Since we established ourselves as a Community Interest Company in 2019, the project has taught 3500 young people and run over 300 workshops across London. Most of those taught felt that what they'd learned had been directly and immediately helpful to them.

Our Goals



Eradicate needless deaths caused by serious youth violence in London by teaching more zero responders

Challenge stigma and prejudices among medical professionals

Tackle class and racial inequalities by reaching young people most harmed by such inequalities and have a positive impact on those we reach


Feedback from young participants of the programme:

95% indicated they had learned something as a result of the YourStance session 58% said they had learned something which would have been of use to them in the past 80% said they felt better prepared to respond to emergencies as a result of the session

Certificate of Higher Education in health

Experience:

Complete DBS for YourStance Bsc honours degree level education or equivalent experience including NMC/GMC/HCPC or other registration to governing body Attend Lead Training and updates annually Attend one team meeting per month Complete the BLS train the trainer course during the first 3 months of joining Comply with safeguarding process Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed care

Job Summary



The Role:



Share skills, knowledge and expertise with young people aged 11-24 year in Bleed Control, Basic Life Support and CPR in our preventative educational Zero Responder workshops Lead 2 x Zero Responder session a month minimum in 4 London Prisons Ability to deliver workshops in ISIS, Belmarsh, Thamesmead, Wormwood Scrubs and Brixton prison

Role Delivery:



Follow Lead pathway to become trained, assessed and deemed competent Setup and facilitation pre and post session Brief of other volunteers during YourStance session and allocate roles Ensure correct use and care of equipment Be a role model for other volunteers throughout the session Be an advocate for the young people attending.

Management of operations:



Responsible for collaborating with the project coordinator about the organisation of equipment and getting it to the session Distribute certificates to participant Collect and upload feedback forms directly on to our database following a workshop Count the remaining feedback forms, certificates, t-shirts, inco sheets, amount of artificial blood etc at the end of their sessions Replenish stock at storage or escalate the need to the project coordinator so this can be organised. Please do not let the supplies run down before they are replenished or you inform the project coordinators of this. Travel within London as required in order to perform their role, expenses will be paid

YourStance relationships



Maintain good relationships with the partner organisations and single point of contact in the prisons If you are asked about booking further sessions please make a direct introduction to YourStance coordinator. Be an advocate for safeguarding and the psychological safety tools that are employed and aware of the YourStance safeguarding. Escalate any challenges to the Project Coordinator or Directors in a timely fashion and understand need for accurate documentation Provide support in trouble shooting and work as the main point of contact for their agreed areas of responsibility during a session Communicate with co-ordinator(s) regarding other volunteers for the following: Feedback any concerns you may have regarding another volunteer. Should a volunteer show aptitude and skill in a session speak to them in regards to becoming a lead volunteer. Provide debriefs for volunteers attending sessions as aftercare if someone has highlighted that something has been particularly triggering in the session

YourStance Responsibilities:



Keep you up to date with any relevant in-house training you may need. Pay your expenses that have occurred, transporting equipment and travelling to and from sessions for reimbursement (capped as per policy) Facilitate aftercare and space to debrief when challenging sessions have occurred Send you details before the session with all the details you would require. Provide you with opportunities for further training and experiences.
The post holder will be a key member of the team whose overarching goal is to manage, promote and run the YourStance model. The post holder will engage extensively with internal and external colleagues to support delivery

The post holder will:



Have ability to work from home to upload data Willing to travel across London for session delivery and organise the arrangement of equipment to facilitate workshops Available to facilitate some evening sessions to meet needs of partners/service users if required

Information Management



Maintain GDPR compliance Ensure safeguarding protocols and procedures are followed correctly Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate project/programme information management systems for allocated projects ensuring they are fit for purpose to a range of audiences Work with members of the research team to develop, refine and implement project data collection systems that will provide accurate and timely data Maintain databases required by the project/programme

The post holder is required to follow YourStance's policies and procedures which are regularly updated including:

Confidentiality / Data Protection / Freedom of Information



Post holders must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business in accordance with the Data Protection Act of 1998. Post holders must not, without prior permission, disclose any information regarding patients or staff. If any member of staff has communicated any such information to an unauthorised person those staff will be liable to dismissal. Moreover, the Data Protection Act 1998 also renders an individual liable for prosecution in the event of unauthorised disclosure of information.

Following the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) 2005, post holders must apply the Trust's FOI procedure if they receive a written request for information.

Information Governance



All staff must comply with information governance requirements. These includes statutory responsibilities (such as compliance with the Data Protection Act), following national guidance (such as the NHS Confidentiality Code of Practice) and compliance with local policies and procedures (such as the Trust's Confidentiality policy). Staff are responsible for any personal information (belonging to staff or patients) that they access and must ensure it is stored, processed and forwarded in a secure and appropriate manner.

Sustainability



It is the responsibility of all staff to minimise YourStance's environmental impact by recycling wherever possible, switching off lights, computers monitors and equipment when not in use, minimising water usage and reporting faults promptly.

Smoking Policy



It is the YourStance's policy to promote health. Smoking, therefore, is actively discouraged. It is illegal within Trust buildings and vehicles.
