The Role
As a Lead Full Stack Engineer at StrideUp, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of our platform and mentoring the engineers who build it. You'll work across the stack, leading by example with clean, scalable code while also guiding architectural decisions and engineering best practices.
You'll be instrumental in delivering high-quality systems that power our ethical lending products and internal operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll collaborate with product, design, and business teams to deliver robust, user-focused solutions. You'll also help evolve our platform to support increasing scale, complexity, and operational resilience as we grow.

What You'll Do
Write Code:
Spend ~80% of your time delivering high-quality, well-tested code to production and setting the bar for delivery to the rest of the team.
Lead:
Guide the team on code quality, architecture, testing, and reliability. Foster a high performing engineering culture through mentorship and peer support.
Oversee Releases & Support:
Coordinate the release process, respond to production incidents, and manage internal support tickets with urgency and care.
Shape the Platform:
Contribute to platform evolution, helping reduce technical debt and improve infrastructure resilience.
Partner on Product:
Work closely with the Product Manager and stakeholders to refine requirements, scope technical feasibility, and ensure user and business needs are met.
Drive DevOps & Modern Practices:
Promote CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and automated testing to improve delivery speed and stability.
Develop the Team:
Support engineers of varying experience levels, identifying opportunities for development and knowledge-sharing.
Requirements
Top Skills/Experience Required
5+ years of experience in full stack software development.
Experience leading or mentoring engineers
Experience designing system architectures
Strong proficiency with:
+ TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, React
+ PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
+ AWS services and cloud architecture
+ Docker and containerised deployments
+ Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) Confident with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and non-functional requirements like security, authentication, and accessibility.
Experience working across the stack: UI, backend services, and infrastructure.
Desirable:
Experience in lending, financial services, or other regulated environments.
