We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled
Lead Healthcare Assistant (HCA)
to support the day-to-day operations of our diagnostic clinic, specialising in
ultrasound and echocardiography
. This hybrid role combines traditional HCA duties with
technical oversight of imaging equipment

PACS administration

consumables management
, and
staff training
.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support
Assist with CQC preparations
Organise & oversee cover for sickness/annual leave/rota gaps etc.
Assist sonographers and clinicians during ultrasound and echocardiography procedures.
Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, ensuring comfort and dignity.
Maintain high standards of infection control and cleanliness in clinical areas.
Perform basic patient observations and documentation.
Technical & Equipment Oversight
Act as the first point of contact for scanner setup, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance.
Liaise with service engineers and vendors for equipment servicing and upgrades.
Manage PACS uploads, image transfers, and ensure data integrity.
Monitor and maintain stock levels of clinical consumables and technical accessories.
Training & Supervision
Support onboarding and training of new HCAs and junior staff.
Deliver refresher sessions on scanner handling, infection control, and clinic protocols.
Promote best practices in clinical and technical workflows.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a diagnostic or imaging setting.
Strong understanding of ultrasound and/or echo workflows.
Familiarity with PACS/RIS systems and DICOM image handling.
Basic technical troubleshooting skills for imaging equipment.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and lead by example.
Desirable:
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
Experience in training or mentoring junior staff.
Previous experience managing consumables or clinical stock systems.
IT proficiency, especially in healthcare systems and Microsoft Office.
