Monday - Thursday | 8.30am - 5.30pm

Friday 08.30am - 4.00pm

The Role

We are seeking an experienced

Dental Head Nurse / Assistant Practice Manager

to join our team on a

full-time basis

. This is a

hands-on, NHS-focused leadership role

suited to a confident all-rounder with strong knowledge of NHS regulations, clinical governance, and infection control.

You will play a key role in supporting the Practice Manager, ensuring compliance with NHS and GDC standards, and leading the dental nursing team while remaining clinically involved.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & NHS Compliance

Provide chairside assistance as required Ensure full compliance with

NHS regulations, GDC Standards

Oversee

infection prevention and control

, audits, and protocols Manage the

Local Decontamination Unit (LDU)

Prepare and maintain the practice for

NHS, CQC/HIS inspections

Monitor emergency drugs, equipment, and clinical governance systems

Leadership & Team Management

Lead, mentor, train and support the dental nursing team Manage nurse rotas and daily workflow Support induction, appraisals, training and development Be actively involved in

recruitment of dental nurses

, including interviews and onboarding

Administration & Operational Support

Maintain NHS documentation, policies, audits and compliance records Stock control, ordering and supplier management Provide reception and front desk support when required Support the Practice Manager with day-to-day operational and administrative duties

Essential Requirements

GDC-registered Dental Nurse

Minimum 5 years' experience

in a dental nursing role Strong working knowledge of

NHS dentistry regulations and GDC standards

Proven experience with

infection control, audits, and inspection preparation

Excellent organisational and administrative skills Confident leadership and team-management ability Flexible, proactive and reliable approach
