About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Nurse to provide clinical leadership, management, and service development across primary care. You will lead our nursing team in long-term conditions (LTCs), acute care, immunisations, and health promotion, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care while supporting practice and PCN targets.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead, mentor, appraise, and develop nurses and HCAs; advise on rotas; chair meetings; foster a learning culture.
Clinical Delivery:
Oversee LTC clinics, vaccination programmes, acute care, wound care, contraception, cytology and minor procedures.
Governance & Quality:
Implement NICE/NSF guidelines, audits, infection control, and service improvement initiatives.
Administration & Training:
Maintain accurate records (SNOMED), manage CPD, support appraisal and revalidation, and train staff.
Service Development & Collaboration:
Identify opportunities to expand services (e.g., respiratory, LD clinics) and work with PCN colleagues and external agencies.
Who We're Looking For
Qualifications:
RGN with current NMC registration; degree/diploma in nursing; specialist qualification in primary care or LTC management; mentor/instructor experience.
Experience:
Substantial primary care nursing experience, LTC management, immunisations, acute care, QOF/LCS delivery, audits, and infection control. Leadership experience with nursing/HCA teams.
Desirable:
Independent/supplementary prescriber; Level 7/MSc in leadership; postgraduate specialty qualifications.
