Job Description

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital is seeking an exceptional Lead Pharmacist for EPR and Digital Transformation to spearhead the implementation of our new Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system as part of the Trust-wide Electronic Patient Record (EPR) rollout. You will provide senior leadership in designing, configuring and optimising digital medicines pathways across surgical, theatre and inpatient settings, ensuring safe and effective practices rooted in NHS clinical standards. This highly visible role requires advanced expertise in digital pharmacy systems, risk management, and medicines optimisation within a hospital environment.
As the lead for our Pharmacy Digital Team, you will drive innovation, training and system adoption across multidisciplinary teams, working closely with clinicians, surgeons, nursing leaders and digital colleagues to embed new ways of working. You will play a central role in shaping the future of digital medicines management at one of the UK's leading specialist surgical hospitals, bringing strong NHS experience, excellent communication skills and the confidence to champion digital change at scale. This is a unique opportunity to influence a major new system implementation and deliver safer, smarter, more efficient care for our patients.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for delivering, managing and developing all digital systems required by the Trust and the Pharmacy department to deliver safe and effective medicines processes including the Trust electronic prescribing system and all programmes that interface with it.
  • Provides expert advice on pharmaceutical and digital matters on all aspects relating to digital and electronic systems relating to medicines and Pharmacy ensuring that the systems have contingency. Undertakes risk assessments and risk management of all medicines related digital systems and ensures compliance with medicines legislation.
  • Leads and develops audit of digital systems across both Divisions and within the Pharmacy Department
  • Lead on design and implementation of Trusts EPMA functions of the EPR system from a change management and optimise the solution to ensure safe and effective practices are embedded as part of roll-out
