We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Services team at Scimitar Park, Harlow. This is a full-time, on-site role with no on-call or night shift requirements. You will lead a team of direct reports, providing mentorship, coaching, and operational oversight to ensure the safe and effective delivery of specialist medications.
This is a non-patient-facing role, focused on high-cost, specialist medications not commonly seen in community pharmacy. You'll be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining high standards of pharmaceutical care, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the Responsible Pharmacist overseeing all pharmacy operations
Ensure compliance with GPhC standards and regulatory requirements
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of pharmacists and technicians
Provide subject matter expertise to business projects and audits
Oversee the safe and accurate dispensing of medications
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive service excellence
What a Typical Day Looks Like
Leading the shift team, ensuring smooth operations
Reviewing and checking prescriptions for accuracy and compliance
Supporting technical training and mentoring staff
Liaising with internal teams (e.g., QA, compounding, customer services)
Managing performance and supporting development plans

About You
GPhC-registered Pharmacist with Independent Prescribing qualification
Proven experience in a senior or team leadership role
Independent Prescriber with practical experience
Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and quality assurance
Ability to manage high-pressure situations and maintain composure
Excellent communication, mentoring, and organisational skills
