About the role

The Provider Safeguarding team in Barnet identifies, assesses and manages risk of harm for vulnerable adults who reside in care settings. We work collaboratively with care providers, health professionals and other organisations to achieve the best possible outcomes for the adult at risk, ensuring their rights are protected and voices heard.
The Lead Practitioner in the Provider Safeguarding team will:


Provide professional case management and supervision to designated staff, encouraging the development of high-quality standards and practice within a culture of continuous service improvement, value for money and safe practice. Will be responsible for the comprehensive screening of incoming safeguarding concerns and will take on a small caseload of complex safeguarding enquiries, using in-depth knowledge of legislation including statutory responsibilities relating to safeguarding adults. Chair safeguarding meetings and other appropriate multidisciplinary meetings as required. Will ensure compliance with the London multi agency adult safeguarding policy and procedures and Barnet safeguarding standards in relation to timescales, concerns, enquiries, planning, recording and audits.
This flexible 36-hour weekly role permits a combination of office and remote work. Office-based work is also an option, with free parking available at our Colindale office.

About you

Experienced social worker with at least 4 years' experience. You will have a strong communication and negotiation skills and be able to build effective relationships with other teams, services, public and other professionals. You will promote and enhance effective working relationships with teams, service areas and partner agencies, and be able to manage the interaction of colleagues with different perspectives. You will be required to make decisions and to challenge others constructively. You will have in-depth knowledge of legislation including statutory responsibilities relating to Adult Social Care Service and good understanding of current best practice in social work and safeguarding adults, and the ability to apply this in a local context, demonstrating extensive knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and principles of Making Safeguarding Personal. You will have experience in safeguarding teams and should have a clear understanding of safeguarding thresholds and evidence of extensive practice-based experience where risks have been high and complex. You will be maintaining high standards of professional practice ensuring expected level of performance is maintained across the team. Your will provide case guidance and regular supervision to team members. You will have solid prioritisation and excellent time management skills. You will be familiar to working in a fast moving, complex environment and embrace the culture of change and new flexible ways of working.
