Summary
The Lead Designer is responsible for driving the design and development of new products, from initial concept through to launch. With a strong background in modern materials and product design, they will create innovative, class-leading solutions for the healthcare sector. This role combines hands-on design and prototyping with regulatory compliance and supplier engagement, ensuring products meet market needs and clinical standards while maintaining Wealden Rehab's reputation for quality and innovation. The Lead Designer will also engage directly with customers and clinical professionals to gather feedback and ensure designs are aligned to real-world needs.
Responsibilities
Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights for continuous improvement.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in product design.
Work closely with developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately.
Lead the full product design lifecycle: concept, CAD, prototyping, testing, and production release
Develop and maintain a network of suppliers and manufacturing partners to support design and production
Stay up to date with modern materials and manufacturing processes to drive innovation
Collaborate closely with internal teams (sales, operations, marketing) to ensure designs meet customer needs
Engage directly with customers, occupational therapists, and stakeholders to capture user feedback
Manage project timelines, budgets, and milestones for product launches
Support continuous improvement and innovation across the product portfolio
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Product Designer or similar role with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
Excellent communication skills to articulate design concepts effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong analytical skills to evaluate user feedback and data.
