1st Line Defence is the leading Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Risk Mitigation Company in the UK. We provide solutions to the risk posed across the UK and around the world, both on and offshore, from unexploded bombs and munitions related to current and former military land use, aerial bombing and conflicts. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Geophysicist to join our fantastic team.
Main Purpose of Job:
The Project Geophysicist is responsible for assisting the Operations Team in the running of Operational projects using the appropriate software to process, analyse, and check the quality of raw data for reporting. The primary role includes utilizing interpretative skills to develop reports and manage all technical data for operational projects. Key responsibilities include maintenance and management of Intrusive, Non-Intrusive, and Target Investigation deliverables as well as all project reporting to ensure consistency, quality improvement, and efficiency in the department and client products. This role also includes time spent in the field utilising survey equipment for data capture, review and interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:
Carry out the processing and analysis and interpretation of magnetometer data from survey operations
Creating high-quality interpretation and developing innovative solutions to processing and imaging issues
Processing field data logs compiled by Unexploded Ordnance operative teams
Liaise and coordinate project deliverables between management and field staff to ensure smooth project reporting and delivery
Production Log Management including updating production logs, reports, drawings, and project worksheets on a daily basis to ensure accurate recording of live and on-going projects.
Oversee ordnance found management including reporting and logging of all items identified and reported to head office
Provide technical assistance throughout the duration of a project including; pre-drilling assessments, live projects and reporting phase of works, including acting as client liaison when required to provide or request information
Ensure quality control of all incoming data is carried out within the department and all quality standards are met, in accordance with company policy and procedure
Enhance & develop existing project data management processes
Assess & Identify data problems and demonstrate workflow solutions
Troubleshooting errors and problems with hardware / software, in cooperation with any external resources as required
Writing and reporting for all field operational projects, including understanding and communicating highly technical and commercial information
Provide technical input during tender or quotation stage of, carrying the preparation of drawings and identifying survey requirements
Carryout field based surveys when required and agreed upon. This will include travel across the UK and assisting with the mobilisation of assets and equipment with remunerable expenses
Carry out all reasonable work and tasks as required; this may include assisting the operations department on work sites or within the office team
Use of Microsoft Suite, Adobe, AutoCAD, QGIS, & Outlook as required
Requirements
Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Geology, Geophysics or other
related earth science preferable.
Work Experience with GIS and spatial data (QGIS & ArcGIS) required.
Experience in AutoCAD required.
Understanding of data management and ability to handle large volumes of data.
High level of computer literacy with experience the Microsoft office package.
Strong academic report writing experience.
