Job Description

As a lead software engineer, you'll run a team of engineers to, design, build and implement software solutions to assist with business processes. The initial core focus will be systems that deal with the management of our brokers - a core source of business for Nationwide. You'll work with key stakeholders in the business operations teams, and liase with multiple other professionals within the team (eg, architects, business analysts, delivery managers etc) to bring our systems to life. We work with LEAN methodologies and deliver at pace while adhering to regulatory guidelines.
This role sits within mortgage operations engineering, which focuses on bringing shared functionality to business operations for landlord (The Mortgage Works) and Home (Nationwide) mortgages. The systems you will help build ensure strong relationships with our brokers and customers, ensuring the right information is given and to ensure everyone has an opportunity to join the society.

What you'll be doing
You will be leading a team of engineers to build the solutions we need to run the business, in particular with broker management activities. You will guide, train and mentor other engineers, and ensure work is undertaken to a high standard in a timely manner. You will ensure guardrails and regulatory guidelines are followed and that our systems are safe and secure in order to protect the society.

• Solution design and architecture
• Containerised solutions - particularly Kubernetes
• Cloud development - particularly AWS
• Team leadership - including line management
