Contract Type: Apprenticeship - Level 4 Sports Coach (15 months + 3 month EPA)

Role Description

We are looking for a motivated Sports Coach apprentice who will work towards the

Level 4 Sports Coach

apprenticeship standard, delivered by Educationwise. In this role, you'll design, deliver and evaluate high-quality coaching programmes for participants of all ages and abilities. You will build advanced coaching skills, specialise in one pathway (High-Performance, Community, or School Coaching), and support long-term participant development.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, deliver and review coaching sessions/programmes across school, community or high performance settings. Ensure all sessions are inclusive, safe, age-appropriate and meet participant needs. Assist with setting up and packing away equipment; maintain safe facilities. Monitor, record and report on participant progress, outcomes, and coaching effectiveness. Work with participants, parents, school staff, and colleagues to ensure high engagement and positive experiences. Reflect on own coaching practice; engage with continuous professional development. Liaise with your Educationwise tutor and mentor; complete coursework, assignments and assessments. Prepare for and undertake the End-Point Assessment (EPA) which includes a presentation, a portfolio of evidence, and a professional discussion.

Essential



18 or over Minimum Level 2 in Sport/Childcare (GCSE, A-Level, BTEC etc.) Minimum Level 2 in English and Maths. If not already achieved, willingness to complete Functional Skills.

Desirable



Previous experience in coaching, schools, clubs or sports leadership. Safeguarding, first aid and child-protection awareness. Passion for sport, ability to adapt to different groups (ages / abilities).
Training & Development

The programme runs for

15 months

, followed by a

3-month EPA (End-Point Assessment)

Delivered remotely via bi-weekly online sessions, plus in-role practical coaching Specialist tutor support; access to learning materials and mentoring Completion gives you a nationally recognised Level 4 Sports Coach qualification
Who We Are Looking For

Someone with drive, professionalism and commitment to developing coaching skills. Excellent communicator who can build rapport with participants, staff, and stakeholders. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Organised and reflective; able to learn from feedback and continuously improve.
