Job Title: Lead Steward (Festival)

Festival Operations Manager / Site Manager

Festival Site (various locations)

Varied - including evenings, weekends and public holidays

Job Purpose:



The Lead Steward plays a key role in the safe and smooth running of the festival by supervising a team of stewards and ensuring all guests, staff and performers enjoy a safe and welcoming environment. Acting as a point of contact between ground staff and event management, the Lead Steward is responsible for briefing their team, monitoring activities, responding to incidents, and ensuring high standards of customer service and safety are maintained throughout the event.

Key Responsibilities:



Supervise, support and motivate a team of stewards within a designated zone or area of the festival Deliver pre-shift briefings to ensure all stewards understand their duties, emergency procedures and key information Act as a point of escalation for any issues, incidents, or questions raised by stewards or festival attendees Maintain effective communication with festival management, security, medical and emergency services Monitor crowd flow, queue management, and entry/exit points to ensure safety and efficiency Complete shift reports and incident logs accurately and in a timely manner Carry out spot checks and regular patrols to ensure steward teams are alert, positioned correctly, and delivering excellent customer service Support with the induction and training of new stewards where required Uphold the festival's values, policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health & safety, and customer service standards

Skills & Experience Required:



Previous experience in event stewarding, preferably in a supervisory or team leader role Strong leadership and people management skills Confident communicator, calm under pressure, and able to give clear instructions Ability to respond to incidents quickly, safely, and professionally Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a festival or large-scale event environment First Aid or SIA licence is desirable but not essential Must be 18+ and available to work long shifts, including weekends and unsociable hours
