Job Description


Are you an experienced Stress Engineer keen to support solutions within the Aerospace and Defence sector? Due to continued investment, this leading-edge manufacturing business is currently in the midst of a huge recruitment drive and is looking for a Lead Stress Engineer join their existing team in Gloucester (hybrid working) on a permanent basis.

The Lead Stress Engineer will provide analytical guidance in structural and occupant injury simulation leading a programme specific technical team of stress engineers, working closely with other functions such as Design, Certification and Production to ensure that seating products are lightweight, durable and safe throughout their working life.

You will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing a team of skilled stress engineers utilizing advanced aerospace analysis methods, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving continuous improvement
  • Reviewing, approving and providing expertise for stress documentation, reports and designs
  • Collaborating with design, certification, manufacturing and other departments as needed
  • Producing clear and concise communications and presentations for program and stress department support
You:
  • Bachelor\'s degree (2:1 minimum) in Mechanical/Aerospace/Structural Engineering (Essential).
  • Minimum 5 years of Aerospace or comparable industry experience (Essential).
  • Strong familiarity with aerospace regulations industry standards and codes
  • Proficient in aerospace analysis techniques, including linear/non linear implicit FE analysis, multi body dynamics and hand calculations
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills for managing a technical team, meeting deadlines and collaborating across functions.
  • Proficient communication skills for liaising with internal teams, external partners and regulatory bodies
  • Proficiency in VBA, Python or similar programming languages (desirable)
  • Experience in complex assembly and component optimization tools (desirable)
  • Knowledge of high-performance steels, corrosion -resistant steels and sandwich panel constructions (desirable)
