The opportunity:

Working as a Structural Design Engineer at our Yeovil site, within our Helicopter Division, you will have the pride of seeing your structural designs on our product ranges, grow from a 3D concept through to installation and flight and you will play a part in the continued growth in our capability for the future.

As part of the Structures Team you will be responsible for developing structural design solutions in collaboration with other engineering departments and key stakeholders, for our wide product range encompassing conventional helicopters, tilt rotors and unmanned air systems.

Our design team supports both the UK and Italian geographies so although based in the UK there is the opportunity to work on our full product range.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do as a Structural Design Engineer:

  • Be responsible for coordination, creation and delivery of varied and challenging design tasks, concurrently engineered with the collaboration of Design/Analysis/Certification & Qualification/Manufacturing
  • Utilizing your design skills to create, innovate and mentor whilst leading teams of Structural engineers in order to achieve delivery of fit for purpose design solutions
What we need from you:

You really must have:
  • The ability to plan, capture/define requirements and execute tasks to achieve challenging timescales and budgets.
  • The ability to own problems and provide pragmatic innovative solutions.
  • Expert level of knowledge of the design of complex engineering structures.
  • Expert level of knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, machining and composite design.
  • Expert level of knowledge of geometric tolerance control and design for manufacture.
  • Expert level of knowledge of aerospace fasteners & types of structural joints.
It would be nice if you have:
  • Knowledge of typical structural analysis failure criteria used to determine the static strength of structural components and an awareness of fatigue and damage tolerance in rotorcraft.
  • Evidence of working in a regulated environment with knowledge of airworthiness regulations eg MAA, EASA or FAA.
Also desirable would be knowledge of:
  • CATIA V5 or equivalent design package.
  • ENOVIA VPM or equivalent part management system.
  • The ability to use the MS Office suite.
