About the Opportunity

Jacobs is committed to playing a coordinating role in Global Energy Transition. Our UK and Continental Europe team is growing and we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for a Lead Substations & Switchyards Engineer to help provide support to projects across Jacobs\xe2\x80\x99 markets.

Our Power and Energy team provides a range of services to our transmission and distribution clients. This includes work on transmission system assets, HVDC interconnectors, energy storage systems.

You will be accountable for the following tasks including but not limited to:

  • Provide guidance on the FEED and detail design workstream for National Grid
  • Ensure adequate quality assurance and delivery of FEED, Detailed design and bids for NGET and DNOs
  • Ensure adequate resources and training of resources for the purposes of delivering FEED and detailed design work
  • Review the HV plant aspects of different projects including HV layouts, earthing design and reports, mechanical interlocking, HV busbar calculations and technical specification for the HV plant equipment
  • Proven record of ability to manage tender packages as tender manager and doing HV plant aspects of technical offers
  • Ability to attend and chair the design review and Hazard review meetings and reviewing HV plant design packages as required
  • Attending site visits, FAT and SAT as required

Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need:
  • Chartered Engineer through the IET
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience
  • Track record of leading teams in the delivery of Front-End Engineering and design or Detailed design of EHV (132kV upwards) substation projects.
  • Experience of working for a client organisation such as transmission system owner/operator, distribution network operator or a design consultancy delivering to such organisation.
  • TP141 or equivalent authorised or ability to do so.
  • Experience in coaching and developing less-experienced engineers.
