The scope of these roles is very similar. Quals, experience etc., will determine the appropriate position. The Lead Switchgear & Service Installation Engineer will take on more responsibility in terms of leading install teams, providing support and encouragement to junior roles.

Lead Switchgear & Service Installation Engineer: 31,000-36,000

Job Brief/ Job Overview- Lead Switchgear Service & Installation Engineer / Switchgear Service & Installation Engineer.

As a Service Engineer at Ormazabal UK, your primary role will be to ensure the safe execution of all service-related projects. Typically, your tasks will include servicing, upgrades, and life extension of switchgear and ancillary equipment within MV/HV substation environments.

Service Engineer responsibilities can vary in nature, and services will be delivered to various customer sites across the UK, overseas, offshore, and marine-based.

As this is a customer facing role, you will be the face and visible representative of Ormazabal UK. It is expected that you therefore maintain a professional manner and demonstrate a genuine commitment to the continuous improvement of the standards of customer care while representing Ormazabal UK to customers in the UK and overseas.

Job specification- Lead Service Installation Engineer/ Switchgear Service Installation Engineer

This is a permanent position subject to a probation period.

Key Responsibilities:

Predominantly providing support to our service team in the following

Installation and cold commissioning of activities related to Ormazabal MV/HV switchgear and associated ancillary equipment within assigned projects.

Dealing with enquiries from existing customers, concerning technical support, advice, and future service offerings relating to Ormazabal MV/HV switchgear and associated ancillary equipment.

Undertaking pre-mobilisation duties e.g., project specific risk assessments, method statements etc.

Participating in, and promoting, a proactive approach to Health and Safety at Ormazabal UK customer premises

Safely performing all necessary service-related tasks at Ormazabal UK and customer sites e.g., switchgear service and maintenance, switchgear upgrades and life extension projects, protection relay testing and upgrades, switchgear breakdown investigation and repairs etc.

Undertaking safety, competence and task related training as identified by the company.

Ensuring all reports and expenses are submitted in a timely manner.

Requirements:

Must have previous experience and exposure to MV/HV switchgear and its ancillary equipment within substation environments.

Must have a proven electrical background.

Must be comfortable working away from home Monday-Friday

Must be comfortable with potential offshore work.

Must hold a valid UK driver license and be comfortable driving vans.

Education/Qualifications:

NVQ (desirable)

Completion of an electrician program at a technical or trade school (desirable)

Working hours:

Monday-Thursday: 8am-5pm

Friday: 8am-1pm (Early finish Fridays)
