Job Description

Bring Moshi Monsters Back to Life!

About Us

We're MindCandy, the creators of Moshi Monsters, the hit online virtual pet game where kids can adopt a monster, play, and explore the world of Moshi. With your help, we want to relaunch Moshi Monsters on Mobile & PC with all the core content fans loved from the original, plus quality of life improvements, updated graphics, new missions, mini-games, and more Moshi World locations for fans to explore. We're a small but ambitious team with big plans and we're looking for a Lead Unity Engineer to help us bring Monstro City back to life.

The Role

We are looking for a talented and creative Lead Unity developer. You'll shape the technical vision, guide a small engineering team, and collaborate daily with artists, designers, and product folks to turn sketches and ideas into polished, magical experiences. You will be rolling up your sleeves, solving problems creatively, and helping us deliver delightful 2D gameplay kids will love. This is a hybrid role that requires 2 days a week in the office (Tues/Wed), but with some flexibility for more remote days.

What You'll Do

Lead development of a brand-new 2D Unity game built for mobile (iOS & Android), followed by PC and consoles soon after Architect systems for gameplay, UI, animation, and tools - always keeping scalability in mind. Build clean, maintainable C# code and set coding standards the team can follow. Prototype quickly with artists and designers to test ideas. Optimise performance so the game runs smoothly on a wide range of devices. Hire & mentor engineers and help us grow a supportive, high-trust team. Collaborate across disciplines to ensure designs are technically achievable while staying true to the creative vision.

What We're Looking For

5+ years professional Unity experience, ideally with 2D mobile games. Strong knowledge of C#, Unity 2D workflows (sprites, animation, physics, UI). Proven experience leading or mentoring other engineers. Familiarity with version control (Git). A shipped title (mobile or cross-platform) under your belt. Passion for kids' games, character-driven worlds, or playful experiences. Great communication -- you can explain tech choices to non-engineers without jargon. Understanding of UX design process, and experience working with design teams

Bonus Points For

Familiarity with the Moshi Monsters IP. A soft spot for quirky monsters, gooey worlds, and creating safe spaces for kids online. Knowledge of backend services (AWS/Firebase) or similar. Interest in modular game frameworks or re-usable templates. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines such as CircleCI Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, or related field

Why Join Us?

Be part of the team reviving an iconic kids' IP loved by millions. Creative freedom -- your voice matters in shaping the game. Build the tech foundations of a studio set up for the long run. Flexible, remote-friendly working, with two days a week in our London (Soho) studio. This is a rare chance to help reimagine Moshi Monsters and shape the future of kids' games.

Application Process

We are looking for someone to join us in early November, with interviews commencing immediately. We are an inclusive and friendly studio and encourage applications from a diverse range of candidates.

If you believe you are a great fit for our team, send your CV and a cover letter via Indeed or to careers@mindcandy.com

Closing date for applications is 17th October.

We look forward to hearing from you.
