Working as part of the wider Learning and Participation team, the post will deliver effective coordination of programming focussed on building engagement with MAC's diverse local communities and audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with hyperlocal community members, to produce and develop an inclusive and accessible programme of arts activities supporting wellbeing, self-expression and community.
Co-ordinate activities that provide low cost engagement opportunities for local families aligning with MAC's wider arts program.
Co-ordinate activities that support access for children and young people with additional needs, who may not be in mainstream educational settings.
Assist the Head of L&P with co-ordinating Family Trail exhibitions and exhibitions of community art projects.
Nurture and develop relationships with local communities.
Co-ordinate programming for Culture Club, MAC's monthly art club for over 65's, to support the delivery of an engaging and creative programme of events.
Co-ordinate the delivery of annual cultural events celebrating significant calendar moments for local communities e.g. events for Ramadan, Eid, Diwali etc
Liaise with visiting companies and artists and wider operational teams to coordinate specific arrangements for events, ensuring that all resources for contractual arrangements, meetings and events are entered into YesPlan and the information is complete for the event to take place.
Actively engage with participants at events and encourage participation.
Communicate with project participants and external stakeholders by email and phone.
Gather feedback from project participants and community members.
Support the evaluation of Community Engagement projects and programmes by collating evaluation forms and statistical data and supporting creative documentation of projects and events.
Represent and be an ambassador for MAC at external meetings and events.
Play a part in the wider work of MAC, including supporting other members of the L&P team and wider arts team where needed.
General Duties
Ensure that all telephone and email enquiries are dealt with professionally, promptly, and appropriately.
Arrange meetings within MAC and with external partners for specific projects/events/activities.
Scanning and filing documents and updating digital archive.
Data entry and collation of statistical information.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR.)
Use software packages such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc. to produce correspondence, documents, and spreadsheets.
Undertaking research where necessary.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Person Specification
A person specification describes the areas of knowledge, skills and experience a person should possess in order to take up the post.
Core - You should meet most of these requirements
Hold A-Levels or equivalent.
Minimum one years' experience of working in a participation programme in an arts, education or community setting through either paid work or volunteer roles.
Proven ability to prioritise and seek solutions when faced with challenges.
Good understanding of the needs and priorities of communities local to MAC.
Good understanding of diverse communities and the cultural calendar.
Highly organised, able to juggle multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
Able to build relationships with people from a range of different backgrounds.
Ability to communicate appropriately with people from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and be able to offer sensitivity towards understanding a range of situations.
IT literate with working experience of MS Office Suite.
Have good written and oral communication in acting as a positive advocate for MAC's work.
Positive and friendly attitude.
Willing to learn new skills.
Demonstrates an enthusiasm for working collaboratively with others, both within a small team and across the organisation.
Passionate about helping people access the arts and creative opportunities.
Has a 'can do' attitude, able to work on own initiative and not afraid to ask questions.
A demonstrable commitment to equality and diversity.
Able to work flexibly to cover occasional weekend or evening work.
Desirable
Further or higher education qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. arts, education, community development, cultural studies), but practical experience is valued equally.
Specific experience or interest in more than one art-forms.
Knowledge of a local community language.
Experience of working with ticketing and programming software such as Spektrix and Yes Plan
