About the Role

Reporting to the Head of HR, this pivotal role will shape and deliver the full learning and development lifecycle across the business. From induction and onboarding through to technical product knowledge, leadership capability, and succession planning, you will create and lead initiatives that inspire and enable our people to shine.

What you will do

Design, coordinate and deliver engaging induction and onboarding programmes that set our people up for success.

Build technical product knowledge programmes in partnership with our brand partners to deepen expertise across retail and back-office teams.

Develop leadership capability and coaching skills to support managers at every level.

Lead succession planning initiatives, identifying, and developing future talent to strengthen our business.

Nurture strong relationships with retail teams and brand partners to ensure alignment, consistency and excellence in learning delivery.

Measure the impact of learning initiatives and continuously improve programmes to meet evolving business needs.

What we are looking for

Proven experience in Learning & Development, ideally within retail, hospitality, or a luxury customer-facing environment.

Strong facilitation and coaching skills, with the ability to engage teams at all levels.

A balance of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery - you're as comfortable designing programmes as you are delivering them.

A collaborative, people-first mindset, with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders.

Passion for developing talent and driving a culture of continuous learning.

JOB DESCRIPTION



Position Title: Learning & Development Manager

Location: Queen's Arcade, Belfast, BT1 5FE

Hours of Work:

41.25hrs - (5 out of 7 days)

Generally, Monday to Friday, however, were training needs are required weekend work may be needed, with a day off during the week.

Role Specification



Role Purpose:

To lead, manage and deliver the full learning and development lifecycle across the business. This includes the design, coordination, and delivery of induction, onboarding, technical product training, sales and client experience development, compliance training, and leadership capability building for both front-of-house (sales) and back-of-house (operations/support) teams. The role will also be instrumental in succession planning, supporting recruitment, and strengthening our relationships with brand partners and retail teams.

Role Scope:

Working as part of the company HR Department, this role is initially being advertised internally. The successful candidate will have experience of training, writing material, working as part of a team with/without direct reports.

Area of Responsibility: Induction & Onboarding

Key Activities:

Design and deliver a luxury-standard induction programme for all new joiners.

Coordinate onboarding schedules for sales and support teams, ensuring alignment with brand values, company culture and operational expectations.

Collaborate with line managers to track new joiner integration and early-stage development.

Area of Responsibility: Training Design, Coordination & Delivery

Key Activities:

Identify training needs across the business through consultation with managers and performance data.

Develop and deliver training materials, e-learning modules, workshops, and masterclasses across areas such as:

1. Sales techniques and luxury client experience

2. Product and brand knowledge

3. Operational procedures and systems

4. Visual merchandising and presentation

5. Leadership & People Management

Book and manage training sessions, logistics, and schedules to align with business priorities.

Lead health and safety and mandatory compliance training, ensuring up-to-date certification and documentation.

Area of Responsibility: Development & Succession Planning

Key Activities:

Create and implement individual development plans for high-potential colleagues.

Support the HR team in succession planning through capability mapping and performance tracking.

Recommend and implement career pathing initiatives and learning opportunities for team growth.

Area of Responsibility: Brand Partner & Retail Relationships

Key Activities:

Liaise with external brand partners to coordinate and deliver product specific training and ensure consistent brand messaging.

Foster strong, collaborative relationships with retail and bran stakeholders to share insights and align on training priorities.

Act as the key internal ambassador for luxury service standards and brand storytelling.

Area of Responsibility: Compliance & Records

Key Activities:

Maintain comprehensive training records, attendance and completion tracking in line with audit and compliances requirements.

Ensure all teams are compliant with legal and Health & Safety training obligations.

Assist the HR team on ad hoc basis with ER matters, such as performance improvement plans, team development intervention and culture building.

Support recruitment through skills analysis, onboarding and early-stage talent development.

Essential

Proven experience in a training and development role within luxury retail, jewelery, fashion or high-end hospitality.

Strong facilitation, presentation and coaching skills

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all

levels.

Desirable

Familiarity with L&D platforms, learning management systems (LMS), and blended learning approaches.

Experience designing learning content for both front-line and operational teams.

CIPD Level 5 in Learning & Development.

Health & Safety training certification (IOSH).

Behaviours & Attributes



Confidence and capability in using Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint & Excel Passionate, enthusiastic and self-motivated. Ability to achieve HR and business goals through outstanding people skills, motivating, leading and empowering colleagues and managers to do the same. Ability to build rapport both internally and externally. Excellent planning and organisational skills Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise. Outstanding teamwork Excellent listening skills coupled with a driven attitude to achieve.
