Purpose of the Role

As a Behaviour Mentor at RE:Solve, you will work closely with pupils aged 11-16 who have been referred due to social, emotional, or behavioural needs. You will build strong, trusting relationships and deliver proactive support that enables them to access education, manage behaviour, and develop positive coping strategies. Your presence will help de-escalate challenging situations, promote self-regulation, and create a safe, therapeutic environment where pupils can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times. Actively de-escalate challenging behaviour using trauma-informed and restorative approaches. Deliver and support targeted interventions (e.g. emotional regulation, anger management, social skills). Build consistent, positive relationships with pupils, modelling appropriate behaviours and boundaries. Record and report behaviour incidents and support planning with wider staff team. Support classroom staff by promoting a calm, purposeful environment for learning. Liaise with families, therapists, and external professionals as part of wider support plans. Attend safeguarding and behaviour briefings, and contribute to team debriefs and solution-focused planning.
Essential Experience & Qualifications

Minimum Level 3 qualification in youth work, education, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience working with children and young people in an SEMH, AP, or similar setting. Training in behaviour management (e.g. Team Teach, MAPA, or similar). Understanding of trauma-informed practice and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to pupil wellbeing.
Desirable

Experience with restorative practice or mentoring schemes. (Training provided) Clean driving licence and access to transport.
