We're looking for a passionate Learning & Development professional to join our team, reporting to the Learning & Development Manager. In this role, you'll design, facilitate and deliver engaging learning solutions that help colleagues across LNER grow their skills, knowledge and behaviours. Working collaboratively with the wider People team and stakeholders across the LNER network, you'll identify performance and capability gaps and create innovative development solutions that support both individual career pathways and wider business goals.
You'll champion a culture of life-long learning, applying the full Training Cycle to ensure our programmes are effective, insight-driven and continuously improving. As a strong communicator and skilled influencer, you'll build trusted relationships with internal and external partners, translating business strategy into meaningful development initiatives. Please note that this is a 12 month fixed term contract.
Within this role you'll also be involved in;
Design and deliver engaging learning solutions--across eLearning, face-to-face and blended formats--using adult learning principles, project management skills and LNER's competency and behaviour frameworks.
Create high-quality learning resources, including guides, workbooks, videos and digital tools, incorporating AI and innovative technologies.
Facilitate inclusive in-person and virtual workshops, adapting your style to diverse needs and using coaching and mentoring techniques to drive behaviour change.
Evaluate learning impact using the Kirkpatrick model, using data and feedback to refine programmes and demonstrate measurable improvements aligned to business goals.
Partner with stakeholders to identify performance and capability gaps, shaping learning objectives and advising on the best development solutions.
Use the Learning Management System to deliver, track and report on learning activity, ensuring accurate records and smooth learner experience.
Support leaders to embed learning into everyday practice through reinforcement strategies, coaching and role-modelling Our Valued Behaviours.
Ensure all learning materials meet legal, industry and company standards, updating content as needed and supporting audit requirements.
Collaborate across the People Team and wider business to create local learning strategies aligned to LNER's brand, vision and Business Plan.
Work in partnership with key stakeholders to identify and utilise the right people, to support and lead elements of the corporate induction process for new starters when required
Work with Employee Experience Business Partners to coach and support teams in delivering Directorate People Plans.
Continuously improve tools, processes and digital learning experiences, using LMS enhancements, AI and automation to reduce admin and boost impact.
Stay ahead of L&D trends, benchmarking best practice and designing innovative, industry-leading programmes that elevate LNER's learning culture.
Influence and engage managers and stakeholders to take ownership of learning and embed it across the organisation.
What you'll need:
Certificate in Training Practice (or equivalent) and be CIPD qualified (or working toward an equivalent level), demonstrating a strong foundation in people development.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Teams, enabling you to create high-quality content and work efficiently with colleagues across the business.
Practical experience using learning platforms and Learning Management Systems (LMS), with the ability to design and build in-person, eLearning and blended learning materials, including behavioural development solutions.
Skilled at building productive relationships, influencing stakeholders and acting as a trusted partner to teams across the organisation.
A track record of creating and delivering impactful L&D programmes at all levels, using project management principles and working in a customer-focused environment.
Experience working within a proactive, results-driven team, contributing to shared goals while managing your own priorities effectively.
