We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in providing support to students with diverse learning needs, particularly those with autism and other disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Contract 35 Hours per week, worked between the hours of 0800-15.30 term time only - 36 weeks a year.
Holidays 4 weeks and 8 bank holidays pro rata (4 weeks in total)
Duties
Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programmes for students with special educational needs.
Support students during lessons, ensuring they remain engaged and focused on their tasks.
Implement individualised learning plans and strategies to meet the specific needs of each student.
Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their social and emotional development.
Help manage classroom behaviour and provide guidance to students in developing their communication skills.
Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt resources and activities for children with varying abilities.
Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to special education and working with individuals with disabilities.
Maintain a safe and supportive environment conducive to learning.
Requirements
Experience working with children, particularly those with autism or special educational needs, is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
A background in teaching or education support is advantageous.
Familiarity with strategies for supporting individuals with disabilities or additional needs is preferred.
Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and understanding when working with young learners.
Experience in toddler care can be beneficial for supporting younger children within the educational setting.
