Brockhurst Primary School is seeking to appoint a dedicated, patient and self-motivated individual to support children in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 who have additional learning, social, emotional and physical needs. Extensive experience in educational settings is not essential, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn is!
We are looking for someone who:
Is looking to enhance their classroom experience and practice prior to beginning a teaching career or undertaking teacher training,
Has an obvious enjoyment of working with children with additional needs and a continuous positive regard for them- even when dealing with the most challenging behaviour
Will champion and advocate for the children they work with and promote their full inclusion in all opportunities
Has experience or a particular interest in supporting children with emotional and learning needs
Can work as part of a team around a child - ensuring effective communication and a consistent approach are maintained and prioritised
Has an ability to build positive relationships with children, colleagues, parents, staff and outside agencies.
Understands the role of play and encourages fun and fair play on the playground
Shows resilience and determination and maintains a solution focused approach
The successful candidate will...
Have GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Mathematics
Have experience of working with children in Primary although this is not essential for the right candidate
Be able to motivate and engage all children
Be able to use their initiative and be resourceful
Be a strong team member
Have patience and strong communication skills
Has a good understanding of safeguarding procedures
