The Learning Support Assistant plays a vital role in providing support to students with diverse learning needs, particularly those with autism and other disabilities. Responsibilities
Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programmes for students with special needs.
Support students with autism and other disabilities in their daily activities, ensuring they are engaged and included in classroom activities.
Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their independence and self-confidence.
Implement individualised learning plans and monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers as necessary.
Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, to enhance the learning experience for students.
Maintain a safe and nurturing environment for all children, including those requiring toddler care.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive approach to learning support.
Skills
Experience working with people with autism and disabilities is essential.
Strong teaching skills, with the ability to adapt lessons to meet individual needs.
Previous experience with children in an educational or care setting is highly desirable.
Knowledge of special education practices and principles.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with students and staff.
A compassionate approach towards working with children, demonstrating patience and understanding.
