Job Description

Sailship Training and learning for Life are seeking to recruit an experienced Learning Support Worker, 30hrs/week over 5 days / 10am-4pm. Interested applicants must have experience of working with adults with learning disabilities and have ability to support in a number of activities to include supporting garden & craft activities. KNOWLEDEGE/QUALIFICATIONS



Literacy/numeracy level2 or above

essential*
A working knowledge of learning disability/ Additional needs within adult education/training setting

essential*
Knowledge and understanding of Individual Care/Education plans/risk assessments

desirable*
ICT Skills level 2 or above desirable*

Health & Social Care - level 2 (or above) and/or SEN Teaching Assistant/LSA qualification/experience is

desirable*

EXPERIENCE

Relevant experience of working effectively in further/adult education or similar setting, instructing and/or supporting instruction of adults with additional needs/learning disabilities is

essential*
supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health support needs in activity- based learning is

essential*
Experience of working in group settings both indoors and outdoors desirable*
Experience of supporting people with disabilities for their personal care is

essential*

You will be responsible for the following:

The wellbeing of trainee(s) whilst at Sailship TLL.
Liaise with tutors/Senior Support Workers and record details of support and the progress of the Trainee(s).

Assist with planning and preparation and set-up of activities for Trainee(s) with whom you are working

Offer encouragement and motivation whilst promoting independence.

Proactively challenge behaviour.
Be able to give instant feedback and praise to Trainee(s).

In the first instance this role requires that the successful candidate provides 1:1 support to a Trainee who has autism and learning difficulties, to afford them the opportunity to access the various enterprise activities on offer. The role also includes group working and other 1:1 support work.
