Overview


The Learning Support Assistant plays a vital role in fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment for students with diverse learning needs. This position involves working closely with teachers and other staff to provide tailored assistance to students, ensuring they can engage fully with the curriculum. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and dedicated to helping students achieve their potential.

Responsibilities



Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting materials to meet individual student needs. Provide one-on-one support to students, helping them with tasks and promoting their independence. Monitor student progress and behaviour, offering feedback to teachers regarding any concerns or achievements. Help create a positive learning environment by encouraging participation and engagement from all students. Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students requiring additional assistance. Collaborate with other professionals, such as special educational needs coordinators (SENCOs) and therapists, to ensure comprehensive support for students. Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Skills



Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents. Patience and empathy when working with students who have varying levels of ability and need. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Understanding of child development principles and special educational needs is desirable but not essential. A proactive approach to problem-solving and adapting strategies as needed for different learning styles.
This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about supporting learners in their educational journey while contributing positively to the school community.
