We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our educational team. This role involves providing tailored support to children with additional learning needs, including those with autism and disabilities.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to create an inclusive and nurturing environment that promotes the academic and social development of all pupils. Prior experience in special education or working with children is highly valued, along with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
Responsibilities
Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning programmes for children with special educational needs, including autism and disabilities.
Support children during classroom activities, ensuring they are engaged and included.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to facilitate understanding of lessons and activities.
Help supervise children during breaks, lunch, and outdoor play, ensuring their safety at all times.
Implement behavioural strategies under the guidance of teaching staff to promote positive behaviour.
Support children with daily routines such as toileting, dressing, and meal times, including toddler care where applicable.
Foster a supportive environment that encourages social interaction and confidence building among pupils.
Maintain clear communication with teachers, parents, and other professionals regarding pupils' progress and needs.
Requirements
Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs such as autism or disabilities.
Knowledge of teaching methods suitable for children with diverse learning requirements.
Previous experience desirable but not essential.
Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting children's development.
Ability to work flexibly within a team and adapt to the individual needs of pupils.
