Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic team member to contribute to our innovative, progressive Pre-Prep department. We have a 3 year Fixed Term vacancy to provide dedicated, individualised support to a Pre-Prep child with identified special educational needs. The role holder will enable them to access the curriculum, participate in school life, and make progress in line with their individual education plan (IEP).

Role responsibilities:



To work with the designated pupil on a 1:1 basis; within the classroom, in the lunch hall, in specialist lessons and school events as directed by the class teacher or SENCO. To implement individualised learning programmes and strategies, adapting resources and activities to meet the pupil's specific needs, under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO. To assist the pupil with their learning tasks across all areas of the curriculum, providing clarification, encouragement, and appropriate levels of challenge. To support the development of pupil's independence, self-help skills and social interactions. To facilitate the pupil's inclusion in whole-class and group activities, ensuring they feel valued and are able to participate appropriately. To assist with personal care needs. To provide emotional support and reassurance, helping the pupil to manage anxieties or frustrations. To reinforce learning concepts introduced by the teacher, using various strategies to aid understanding and retention. To monitor the pupil's progress against their individual targets, recording observations and providing regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO. To contribute to pupil progress meetings, reviews of IEPs/provision maps, and other relevant discussions. To carry out duties as part of the rota and as directed by the Head of Year and/or Senior Leadership Team and report any concerns to both the class teacher and/ or the designated member of staff, recording matters as set out by School policy. Comply with all school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to child protection, equal opportunities, racial equality, health, safety and security, confidentiality, behaviour and data protection, reporting concerns to the Headmaster. Supervise, engage with and assist with first aid for pupils for specified periods including break-times and lunch times. Assist with escorting pupils on educational visits. Attend to pupils' personal needs including help with social, welfare and health matters, including minor first aid.
