We are seeking a specialist Mentor with expertise in supporting the Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs of young learners. This is a therapeutic-focused role dedicated to fostering a safe and supportive environment. You will be instrumental in guiding children through their personal and educational challenges, implementing trauma-informed strategies to build resilience, confidence, and a positive future.
Core Responsibilities
Deliver Bespoke Mentoring:
Design and implement 1:1 mentoring plans that are highly adapted to each child's specific emotional, developmental, and learning profile.
Implement Therapeutic Strategies:
Utilise effective behaviour management, trauma-informed approaches, and positive reinforcement to promote emotional regulation and positive social skills.
Provide Targeted Academic Support:
Deliver confident academic tutoring, particularly in Maths, using methods that build self-esteem and deep understanding.
Collaborate as a Key Worker:
Act as a central point of contact, working closely with parents, teachers, and specialists to ensure a unified and holistic support plan for each child.
Foster Skill Development:
Apply principles from therapeutic techniques (such as mindfulness, play therapy, or ABA) to encourage independence and track meaningful progress.
Candidate Profile: What You Bring
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong, proven understanding of SEMH needs and effective behaviour management strategies.
Background in mentoring, special education, or early childhood care (including toddler development).
Demonstrable ability to build strong, trusting, and professional relationships with children and families.
Confidence in tutoring Maths in an adaptive and patient manner.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles.
Familiarity with therapeutic techniques (e.g., play therapy, mindfulness, Applied Behaviour Analysis).
Understanding of speech and language therapy (SLT) approaches.
