Are you an empathetic, caring, and positive mentor who isn't phased by challenges?
At AS2Educate, we believe every young person deserves to be seen, supported, and encouraged, no matter their starting point. We are a trauma-informed, alternative education provision working with children and young people who have EHCPs, diagnosed needs (SEN, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, ODD), and those who are looked after.
We're seeking Learning Support Mentors who are patient, understanding, and resilient, with a natural ability to connect with young people who may present with behavioural challenges. If you can remain calm under pressure, and you're motivated by helping others reach their potential, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll do:
As a Learning Support Mentor, you'll play a vital role in:
Providing 1:1 and small group academic and emotional support during lessons and enrichment activities.
Acting as a consistent, caring adult role model, building trust and positive relationships.
Mentoring students to develop resilience, self-esteem, and emotional regulation.
Supporting young people with complex needs and behavioural challenges, using de-escalation and restorative approaches.
Assisting with lesson delivery, adapting resources, and promoting inclusive learning.
Encouraging participation in physical, outdoor, and vocational activities.
Recording session notes and contributing to professional reports for families and partner agencies.
Transporting students to and from educational visits (car driver essential).
What we're looking for:
Experience supporting young people with SEN/SEMH needs, including those with EHCPs or in care.
A trauma-informed, person-centred approach with empathy and emotional intelligence.
The ability to stay calm, positive, and solution-focused when faced with challenging behaviour.
A genuine desire to help every learner feel valued, understood, and capable.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Why join AS2Educate?
Be part of a values-driven, supportive team that prioritises relationships, respect, and real progress.
Access to training and professional development in trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
Help young people overcome barriers, rediscover learning, and achieve personal growth.
Safeguarding Statement:
AS2Educate is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students. The successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check and attend regular safeguarding training. All staff are expected to follow statutory guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct.
