Job Purpose
---------------
The Learning Support Mentor will provide high-quality support to students with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities, including D/deaf learners, those with Autism Spectrum Disorders, learning disabilities, visual or language impairments, and students with physical access needs.
The role focuses on empowering students to develop independence, fully access the curriculum, and successfully achieve their programme of study.
Key Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with subject lecturers and assessors, following direction from the Learning Support Manager or appointed delegate, to support students across a wide range of learning environments.
Assist students in accessing learning through tasks such as reading materials aloud, note-taking, word processing, use of assistive technologies, and supporting metacognitive skills.
Support students to achieve personalised learning outcomes, including targets outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Adapt classroom resources as required - for example, enlarging text or simplifying language - to ensure accessibility.
Promote student independence and champion inclusion within the learning environment.
Provide support outside classroom settings, including during breaks, lunch periods, off-site study programme delivery, and pre-arranged trips.
Maintain accurate records in line with support guidelines, including attendance, target setting, progression notes, and daily updates on ProMonitor.
Attend team meetings and contribute to continuous improvements within the Learning Support team.
Support the delivery of therapy interventions such as Physiotherapy or Speech and Language Therapy, following guidance from qualified professionals.
Work directly with students to review support needs, following internal processes.
Attend EHCP annual review meetings with parents and external agencies, when requested by the Learning Support Manager.
Undertake training and professional development as agreed.
Assist colleagues in identifying support needs, including safeguarding concerns, referrals to learner services, or recommendations for differentiated materials.
Perform additional duties reasonably required and appropriate to the role across any Client site.
Special Conditions / Requirements

This is a regulated activity, requiring an Enhanced DBS with Barred List check, renewed every four years.
All employment is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks.
Holiday entitlement is incorporated into the annual salary due to term-time working.
