Richard Huish College has a strong reputation regionally in its offer of a wide range of A level and vocational courses in Taunton and the surrounding areas in Somerset. We are seeking to recruit a caring, proactive and enthusiastic Learning Support Officer to work with students identified as requiring further support in their study programme. This will include a caseload of students with an Educational Health Care Plan.
This could be an ideal role for someone who wants to explore whether teaching or special educational needs is the right move for their future career direction. It could also be an ideal role for someone who has knowledge and experience of working in education and would like to further support young people with a wide range of strengths and needs to achieve their potential.
The aim of the of this important work is to support students to learn independent study skills and to achieve on their study programme. Learning Support Officer tasks could include 1:1 support, small group work, exam invigilation and in class support.
Support resources will be available, and these can be tailored to meet group and individual student needs. Communication with curriculum staff is also expected, to update student progress and to ensure the delivery of the support is meeting the needs of the students, as well as external professionals and parents/carers in some cases.

Salary: 24,953-27,532 FTE Point 7-11 on the Support Staff Scale depending on experience
Actual salary 11,006-12,144 based on 18.5 hrs
Hours: 18.5hrs per week
Contract: Permanent, term time only (39 weeks)
