The Learning Technology Support Officer contributes to the support of all technology enhanced learning systems within the University by assisting with the implementation, integration and maintenance of systems and their applications. They contribute to project innovation work across the University and support the maintenance of the VLE and other systems software. They will also assist the learning technologists in their support of all staff and students in the use of learning technologies to deliver excellent student learning outcomes and experience.

Job Title: Learning Technologist Support Officer

Faculty/Directorate: Academic Practice and Curriculum Development/ Directorate for Student Success

Location: High Wycombe (with travel to other campuses and partner institutions as required)

Job Purpose:

The Learning Technology Support Officer contributes to the support of all technology enhanced learning systems within the University by assisting with the implementation, integration and maintenance of systems and their applications. To contribute to project innovation work across the University. To support the maintenance of the VLE and other systems software. The post holder will assist the learning technologists in their support of all staff and students in the use of learning technologies to deliver excellent student learning outcomes and experience.

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:
  • Act as a contact for staff and student queries relating to learning technologies including VLE and as appropriate provide a resolution to their query or refer to the relevant learning technologist to resolve.
  • Provide advice and assistance to staff using VLE and other tools to help them identify VLE features and learning technology tools appropriate to their needs.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of VLE and associated technologies
  • Action incoming communication relating to content on the VLE, keeping records of queries, requests and resolutions to identify potential future requirements.
  • To assist with the creation of documentation, help sheets and video guides to support staff and students in their use of VLE and other e-learning tools and technologies.
  • Review materials on VLE and other e-learning tools and check, edit and test functions and features of content material created
  • Assist with the development of interface designs and module area templates for VLE. Publishing and uploading online learning content into the VLE and LMS (Learning Management System)
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a reference bank of freely available educational resources and online tools which may be beneficial for staff and students.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of user issues regarding accessibility, usability and user learning styles to ensure VLE, online learning resources and associated tools and technologies are accessible to all users.
  • Participate in local and national VLE and e-learning networks to keep up-to-date with developments and trends in e-learning and emerging technologies that could support learning and teaching,
