FTE Salary - 26,308

Actual Pro Rata - 21,470



40 Hours per week, 37 weeks per year

Based at Glasshouse College

An exciting opportunity has become available to support the Leatherwork Tutor in the delivery of high-quality practical skills, teaching and learning.

The role includes working with young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), who come to learn and work as part of their Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) programme at Glasshouse College, Stourbridge, an independent specialist college run by Ruskin Mill Trust.

Applicants must have experience of working with learners with learning difficulties and/ or learning disabilities.

The key duties in this role will include:



To assist the Tutor, leatherwork in the planning, preparation and delivery of bespoke learning activities for students in leatherwork along with supporting the monitoring and recording of their progress. To support students with emotional or behavioural issues and help develop their social skills and transferable skills for work and life beyond college To be familiar with student background information, profiles, PBS plans and risk assessments To support the delivery of qualifications in line with student pathways and aspirations To be a part of the on-going assessment of student progress making reasonable adjustments as required to minimise barriers to learning and achievement.

To undertake this position successfully, you will have:



Knowledge of specialist education; An ability to engage and inspire students with complex needs and learning differences to overcome their barriers and achieve; Experience/interest in leatherwork and a willingness to develop skills in this craft; Experience of working with learners with learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities and challenging behaviour; Excellent communication and organisational skills; A flexible and professional approach to work A willingness to undertake training in the Trust's method of PSTE along with teacher training opportunities, as required.
