About The Role




We are now seeking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic

Lecturer

to join the Faculty of Creative Arts & Communication to teach journalism on our undergraduate courses in Journalism & Creative Writing and Media Production.




You will primarily be working with students as they develop key editorial skills and understanding in audiovisual storytelling, exploring a range of techniques and styles to tell news. You will also be expected to teach some critical elements of the degree, helping students discuss and analyse the professional and conceptual contexts of journalism and media practice. Our students benefit from a well-stocked store of suitable equipment and state-of-the-art Adobe software, as well as our recording studio The Soundhouse. You will be supported in class where appropriate by trained technicians.




The role also involves you contributing to some of the other tasks carried out by our academic team, including indicatively pastoral student support, liaison with industry, student recruitment, quality assurance and extracurricular events/projects. Although the role is fixed-term, we would welcome candidates with established or new scholarship, research and/or innovation projects.

About You




The ideal candidate will have experience of working in broadcast or multimedia journalism, with a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the subject area and good contacts in the industry. You will have a track record of creating impactful and creative news stories for different audiences and platforms, ideally in both video and audio.




Additionally, you will a Masters degree in the subject area or related field and have experience of teaching in Higher Education, with a track record of applying excellent communication and digital skills to deliver an excellent learning experience for students.




This is a fixed term to 31 July 2026, part time position working 17.5 hours per week. The successful candidate must be able to start in the role on 1 September 2025.
