The Role
We are seeking an inspiring and knowledgeable Lecturer in Engineering to join our expanding DEC teaching team. This role is essential in supporting the College's growing engineering provision, delivering high-quality classroom and workshop learning to full-time students and apprentices.
With student numbers increasing and curriculum demand widening, this post ensures we have the capacity, flexibility and resilience needed to deliver a consistent, high-quality learner experience across the academic year.
We welcome applicants with experience in mechanical, electrical, design, manufacturing or multi-discipline engineering. This role also enhances our ability to provide cover for staff absence, ensuring continuity for learners and stability across the curriculum team.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that bring engineering principles and practical skills to life.
Teach across a variety of programmes, including full-time study programmes and apprenticeship pathways.
Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessment and attendance.
Develop high-quality teaching materials aligned to industry standards and emerging engineering technologies.
Support learners in both theory and practical workshop environments, ensuring safety and industry relevance.
Collaborate effectively with curriculum area managers, colleagues and employer partners to ensure smooth curriculum delivery.
Provide cover when required to maintain consistency of teaching and avoid disruption to students' learning.
What You Will Bring
A strong engineering background-mechanical, electrical, design, manufacturing or multi-discipline.
Confidence in teaching across both workshop and classroom environments.
Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a learner-centred approach.
Flexibility, resilience and a willingness to contribute across a large, busy curriculum team.
A passion for helping students develop their skills, confidence and industry readiness.
