Department of Art & Media Technology
The Department of Art & Media Technology works across Fine Art, Contemporary Curating, Games Design, Creative Technology & Computing, Digital Media Practices, and Arts & Cultural Leadership. The department supports a politically alert and contextually astute interdisciplinary research environment, in which practice-based, scholarly, and editorial processes are all at play.
About the role
This appointment will enhance collaborative research-led education within the Department of Art & Media Technology and extend the international reach of our research and enterprise activities. The BSc Creative Computing is a fine art course rooted in technical media, skills, and histories, and as such attracts students with diverse backgrounds who seek to engage technological practices critically within contemporary cultural discourse. The BA and MA in Fine Art develop student-centred fine art practices across media, aligned with staff research interests.
In addition to pursuing an active, practice-based, internationally recognised research programme that aligns with the strategic goals of the department, you will make a substantial contribution to teaching across the Department of Art & Media Technology in accordance with your specialisms. In the first instance you will contribute primarily to the BSc Creative Computing and MA Fine Art.
About You
You will demonstrate a commitment to education and an ability to bring your own research to bear on the enhancement of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
You will have a core role in the programme delivery of BSc Creative Computing and MA Fine Art, with an emphasis on studio practice and technically-underpinned creative experiences. Your teaching will foreground studio practice but will also be lecture-based, and will encompass relevant critical theory. The BSc Creative Computing programme started in 2024, so you will be integral to its development and future.
You will have an established or emerging international reputation in practice-based research in the broad field of art and technology. Specifically, you will have a history of practice-led education and direct practical skills related to (for example, the making of prototypes, interactive installations, and data-driven art works).
