The Department of Engineering wishes to appoint a part time temporary lecturer in Audio Technology to deliver a high quality teaching and learning experience. The Department brings together an exciting blend of skills and expertise in the development and delivery of industrially relevant undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study and establishing an excellent track record in sustaining and growing research and knowledge transfer links with Industry.



The successful candidate will be part of a vibrant team contributing to multiple levels of teaching within the subject area. You will have a BSc (Hons) in Audio Technology or equivalent degree, have experience of teaching, academic delivery and a strong commitment to the enhancement of teaching, student experience and progression.



The main purpose of the role is to deliver high quality teaching to undergraduate BSc (Hons) Audio Technology students. The Audio Technology programme at GCU has a long and well established track record of delivering a broad and dynamic range of technology focussed topics underpinning Audio Technology knowledge and expertise in the 21st Century. The successful candidate will support teaching in Sound Production, Sound Reinforcement and help support supervision of undergraduate Honours research projects.


The successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to teach effectively, at University undergraduate level, a range of Audio Technology subjects included in the current GCU curriculum. You should have previous undergraduate teaching experience in the topic of Sound Production and/or Sound Reinforcement, and have in depth knowledge and skills in Pro Tools, Reaper and other DAW software. The successful candidate should also be proficient in using pro audio equipment including, but not limited to microphones, control surfaces, analogue and digital mixers, loudspeaker systems, outboard signal processors, and networked audio systems. Skills and knowledge in related subjects such as Game Sound development, Audio programming - Max, C++ (JUCE), Matlab, and Acoustic Modelling is desirable. You should have Excellent organisational skills including communication (written and verbal), team working, personal initiative, attention to detail, broad minded and ability to problem solve creatively, and excellent oral and written presentation skills.
