Job Summary


We now seek an experienced lecturer who will have a robust approach to the delivery of teaching and learning while adopting innovative classroom techniques. The candidate will have at the heart student performance and retention through a supportive, encouraging and creative learning environment.

The post holder will develop, deliver, and support academic programmes in line with agreed standards and policies and will promote best practices in all aspects of his/her work, and be sympathetic to our students; s/he will take decisions and accept responsibility. S/he will have a willingness to learn and adapt, and most importantly have a positive attitude which will underpin the delivery and further growth of our programmes at our centre.

Key Responsibilities



To plan, prepare and teach strong lessons for the classroom which enthuse and inspire students, and promote enjoyment of learning.

To effectively use a variety of learning styles, having regard to the individual learning needs of students.

To select and sequence appropriate materials, resources and approaches according to the course type and learners.

To assess, track and provide relevant and timely feedback on achievement, progress and developmental needs to students, academic and other managers/colleagues, including student records.

To set and mark promptly both formative and summative coursework to be completed outside of lessons in accordance with the academic calendar.

Maintain effective records of lessons, grades awarded, and marks given in class.

Ensure accurate attendance records are kept for every lesson using the centre's electronic systems.

To ensure lessons are in line with Schemes of Work (SoW) and their respective objectives, and that these are shared with students.

To give feedback on materials, courses and lessons to academic and other managers/colleagues as required.

Key Relationships



Academic and centre team, including attending meetings as and when required and in participating in CPD workshops and plans in line with centre policies and procedures.

Student Leadership and Pastoral Care



Ensuring the academic team provides the highest level of pastoral care, including acting as personal tutor to a diverse range of students.

Working with the Student Services team to support and promote the highest standards of welfare for students, with safeguarding being central to the team's approach.

- To induct students appropriately, to provide academic advice, educational guidance, and tutorial support to students, including individual learning plans around your subject module as directed.

Qualifications and Experience



Academic qualification at post-graduate or equivalent level or relevant professional qualifications (DELTA). (E)

Relevant teaching experience. Normally a minimum of five years teaching experience. (E)

Ability to customise teaching and assessment practices to a range of programmes of study and a diverse student population. (E)

The ability to contribute to integrated teaching and assessment across the curriculum. (E)

An understanding of the needs and requirements of international students. (E)

Direct experience of higher education in an international context. (E)

Experience in academic assessment and standards and quality assurance procedures. (E)

An understanding and appreciation of private-sector education. (D)

Skills



Demonstrable cross-cultural awareness and understanding (E)

A commitment to teamwork. (E)

A record of achievement in teaching. (E)

Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills including fluency in English. Numerate and articulate. (E)

Communicate effectively with academics in the centre, within Malvern International. and with NCUK colleagues as appropriate (E)

Competence in the effective use of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). (E)

Proven planning and organisational skills and an ability to take initiative within curriculum and policy objectives. (E)

A record of attention to detail, thoroughness and fairness. (E)

The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, work under pressure and, when necessary, with minimal resources. (E)

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Pay: 30.00-40.00 per hour
