An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Science and Humanities Adult Learning team based at our Abbey Park Campus. The team are responsible for delivering full and part-time GCSE resit courses and Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diplomas to adult learners.

We are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Chemistry Lecturer who can deliver high quality teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of our adult students.

Educated to degree level in Chemistry, you will have recent teaching experience and a track record of delivering success in exam and portfolio-based assessments. Experience of working with GCSE, Access to HE or A-level students would be ideal, and you will hold, or be working towards, a recognised teaching qualification.

You will be expected to meet individual learner needs and deliver innovative lessons which motivate and enthuse learners who are returning to education after a break. You will create interesting and engaging resources that help contextualise the subject and facilitate learning. You will routinely monitor learner progress, setting individualised targets to ensure learners are developing their knowledge and skills. The ability to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines and timely completion of course-related paperwork is essential. It is important that you can communicate effectively and that you hold a good working knowledge of IT systems such as Microsoft Teams, Moodle and Outlook.

The successful candidate will have the following:

A degree in Chemistry

A full teaching qualification at Level 5 or above or be willing to work towards obtaining one. If you do not hold a suitable teaching qualification, the College will support you to obtain this as part of our investment in your professional development.

Minimum of Level 2, GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in maths and English

Interview: Week commencing 25th August.
