Currently, we are accepting applications for the post of

Lecturer in Computer Science,

which will support the academic delivery of our MSc Artificial Intelligence & Data Science on a full-time basis.



The Role:





As Lecturer in Computer Science, you will be in an excellent position to use your knowledge and understanding of topics such as machine learning, evolutionary computing, robotics, large language models/foundational models and artificial intelligence, to deliver modules on our MSc Artificial Intelligence & Data Science programme and conduct cutting edge research in your area of research interest..



The post will provide you with the opportunity to use your excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills to engage and inspire our students, while monitoring their performance and working with our Academic Skills colleagues and other University services to support their progress.



You will also be given the remit to undertake the assessment of these students, using assessment instruments provided, and under the guidance of experienced staff, work collegiately to help deliver an excellent learning and teaching experience for all involved.



You will have the opportunity to develop your independent research in an area related to machine learning, evolutionary computing, robotics, large language models/foundational models and artificial intelligence, and your research will be associated with our Centre for AI and Robotics, giving you the opportunity to work with colleagues conducting world leading research within the centre.



Furthermore, you will be mentored and guided by Edinburgh Napier staff in developing your research and the delivery of modules, using pre-existing course delivery plans and materials. This will give you the opportunity to work closely with module and programme teams and team leaders, enabling you to work to high standards and potentially make suggestions based on your own skills and experience to enhance the curriculum. Your research will be supported by our research and innovation services.



This role will also give you the opportunity to expand your industry connections through our existing networks and a research allowance of 30% of your time to build your research, as well as access to our staff development budget for travel to conferences and to establish collaborations.



What we will need from you:



A doctoral level qualification in a relevant discipline. Evidence of a professional academic and research profile alongside a commitment to sustained continuous professional/academic development. Experience of delivering high quality teaching/learning. Commitment to face-to-face teaching on-campus, including during the summer. Ability to communicate accurately and fluently at a high level of English proficiency. Ability to respond sensitively to students with different needs and backgrounds.
