We are pleased to announce that we are looking for two full time Lecturers in Criminology and Criminal Justice to join the academic team within the School of Education and Social Sciences at the UWS Paisley Campus. Criminology cuts across various schools and programmes and you will be teaching a broad range of students in criminology and criminal justice including psychology, forensics, and social science students.

You will be joining a small and diverse team with a broad range of academic and professional practice. You will be expected to make a broad contribution to the academic work of the Criminology and Criminal Justice team and a contribution to the research activity and other forms of scholarly activity as part of our department.

Teaching duties will include both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, assessment and on-going curriculum development and management. You will also be expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students and take on an administrative post within the team. It is essential you have a PhD in a relevant discipline and desirable that you have teaching and research experience across the subject area of criminology. Our ideal candidate will be student-focused, have experience of using technology to enhance online learning and teaching, and have a broad and critical understanding of research methods and theoretical issues relevant to the teaching of criminology.

We are open to all specialisms but are looking to strengthen our curriculum in the following areas: Digital/Cyber-crime, Criminological Theory and Practice, Research Methods, Psychological criminology, International criminology and zemiology, Human rights and social justice, Migration /race and ethnicity, and, Green crime and globalisation.

The successful candidate should have the following:

An undergraduate qualification in criminology or social sciences. A PhD in a relevant area (or be close to completion) Experience of learning, teaching and assessment in Higher Education Evidence of published research profile commensurate with career stage A working knowledge of designing and delivering co-creative and active learning and assessment Familiarity with online learning environments and principles of digital education.
