The Global Development Institute (GDI) is looking to recruit a new lecturer in development economics to further enhance its research and teaching in this area of global development.
This post is intended to enhance the GDI's research and teaching capacity in development economics. Applications are welcomed from appropriately qualified candidates in all areas of development economics: this can include applications from candidates who can expand our portfolio of development economics expertise in new directions, particularly where we have cognate social science expertise in the Institute, e.g. on health or urban development, or from candidates that can help to consolidate our existing expertise (e.g. in poverty, economic growth, development finance, trade, the environment, public policy etc.).
Applicants must have a PhD in economics or a related discipline, demonstrated ability to publish high-quality research in development economics, and the ability to provide excellent teaching at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels. The successful candidate will have strong quantitative skills and must have the capacity and commitment to work closely with colleagues from multiple disciplines in an interdisciplinary context. The University welcomes applications from excellent candidates who can make significant contributions to research and research-informed teaching. GDI is committed to mentoring and supporting all colleagues and particularly welcomes applications from under-represented groups within higher education in the UK.
