We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Part-Time (0.5 FTE) Lecturer in English Functional Skills to join our team on a permanent basis. Key Responsibilities





As a Lecturer in English Functional Skills, you will deliver high-quality teaching tailored to adult learners. You will carry out initial and diagnostic assessments to identify learners' starting points and needs, then develop personalised learning plans and effective Functional Skills programmes targeting areas for improvement. You will teach and assess in line with awarding body requirements, helping learners achieve qualifications and apply skills practically. The role includes maintaining accurate records, tracking progress, and conducting reviews. You will manage a teaching timetable, including two evening sessions per week, and complete essential administrative tasks such as preparing schemes of work and assessments. You will also contribute to continuous improvement of teaching and the learner experience, working with external agencies, college partners, and local employers to meet diverse learner needs.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise





The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching functional skills, a commitment to student development, and a genuine passion for education. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to inspire and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.

To be successful, you should hold a recognised teaching qualification (Level 5 or above) and have experience teaching English at Level 2 within Further Education, across a variety of vocational areas. You should be an inspiring teacher, capable of motivating learners to achieve their goals and career aspirations.
