Main duties and responsibilities
The appointed Lecturer will contribute to the delivery of our BSc in Sport and Exercise Science, BSc in Sports Therapy and MSc in Strength, Conditioning, and Rehabilitation, specifically in the area of Exercise Physiology. In addition to teaching, marking related administrative duties, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to our research community within the University, recently ranked in UK's top 25% of all universities for research impact, or engage in other consultancy or other scholarly activities.
Skills and experience required
You will have experience in a Higher Education institution, teaching or conducting research in the area of exercise physiology. Candidates with the ability to teach across a range of disciplines, such as nutrition and metabolism, exercise for health, strength and conditioning, or applied and performance physiology will be viewed favourably. You will have research experience appropriate to your career stage, evidenced by high-quality impactful publications. Alternatively, experience delivering income-generating consultancy services to clients or external organisations will also be considered. Proficient in English, you will possess effective communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines. Strong pastoral skills are essential, as is the capability to teach both online and in-person across lectures, workshops, and practical laboratory-based sessions. You will demonstrate the ability to work constructively as part of a team, with a flexible and collaborative approach.
Qualifications required
You will hold both an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in a relevant subject, and a doctorate in Exercise Physiology or a related field (or nearing completion) is desirable. You will have a Higher Education Teaching Qualification and/or be a Fellow of Advance HE, or demonstrate the potential to achieve Advance HE Fellowship within one year of appointment.
