Job Description

Kingston School of Art is recruiting a part-time Lecturer in Fine Art.


You will join a dynamic academic community, working closely with students and staff in a supportive and student-centred environment. You will provide tutorials and deliver teaching across the MFA Fine Art and BA Fine Art programmes.


Your teaching will be informed by your specialist artistic practice and your research will contribute to the School's wider research culture. Drawing on your sector experience and using a range of teaching approaches and digital tools, you will help deliver a Fine Art education that is critically engaged and responsive to contemporary artistic, cultural and professional contexts.


You will support the MFA Fine Art Course Leader in the delivery of the programme, take on module leadership responsibilities and contribute to curriculum review and development. You may also lead a tutor group on the BA Fine Art.

You will hold a relevant postgraduate qualification and show a commitment to developing your professional and pedagogic practice.


You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and well-established professional networks within the UK and internationally. You will be well organised, inspiring and an engaging public speaker with strong written and verbal communication skills.


Proven experience of managing complex projects and schedules, working collaboratively within a team and supporting the needs of others, both individually and in large groups, is essential.


You will be a practising artist with a growing national and international profile and network, strong knowledge of contemporary art practice and theory and experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.


We are particularly keen to hear from artists working in sculpture, film and video and digital media.

Kingston School of Art (KSA), founded in 1899, is one of the UK's oldest art and design institutions. It is recognised for its practice-based teaching, interdisciplinary approach and strong industry connections. This is a part-time (18.5 hours per week) 16-month fixed term role with a starting salary of 22,512.50 (50% of 45,025 per annum).
