The University of Hull Law school is seeking to appoint a dynamic individual to be part of our fantastic Legal Advice Clinic, working as Deputy to our Director of the clinic you will be responsible for providing Supervision for students, advising the clients of the Law clinic. In addition we will want you to be able to bring your practice knowledge into the classroom, working on Family law or Criminal Evidence as well as Real World Law modules.



The faculty invites applications for this permanent full-time position. The candidate is expected to take up the position on 17th September 2025 or sooner.

What will we want you to do



As Deputy, we will expect you to be able to support in the Management of the Legal Advice Centre, you will need to be willing to train on our CRM - CLIO and to take an active role in developing and preparing of teaching materials, on our practice led modules - the Law clinic, working with students who are looking to provide key advice to our clients, as well as our Real world law module, which provides our 2nd year students a robust introduction to legal practice. We also need you to support the Director of Clinic in relation to all matters of client record keeping being SRA and GDPR compliant ,as well as being involved in the Legal Advice Centre Annual report.



We will also want you to be engaged with all aspects marketing and promotional activities for the LAC and for the Law provision, this will include working with potential students on Open and Applicant days, as well as liaising with legal firms and practitioners. We hope that you can also bring some of these links with you. We are also looking to build within the Law school, a focus on Street law and Public Legal Education and supporting the wider community, which is something that you will be interested on building as well.



Who are we looking to recruit ?



As this is a role which is practice oriented we want you to have qualified as a Solicitor or Barrister and either have or can obtain a Practising certificate. You need to be able to show that you have been qualified for at least 5 years and if you have an interest in Social justice this would be especially of interest.



We also expect that you will be able to teach on our specific modules- Family law or Criminal Evidence law- each of which is taught in a practice focused way, so your practice experience will be invaluable to our students.



We hope that you will also be interested in forging links with practices, as well as external relationships, with a view to carrying out practice based research, responding to calls for contributions to reform within the legal services sector or your area of legal interest. We will provide you with relevant training and support to ensure that you will reach your potential.
