The School
The School of Law is an active, progressive and innovative school. It has focussed on the teaching of the practice of law, at undergraduate and postgraduate level. It places an emphasis on the development of the student, with a focus on employability, and seeks to place law in context, teaching not only the basic statute and case law but also the legal decision-making processes. We are committed to active teaching methods, high standards and the personal and professional development of our students. The school has seen a rapid rise in the rankings and for the last five years has had an exceptionally high overall satisfaction rate in the NSS survey.
The Role
The post holder will be expected to teach a range of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level; and support the development of courses in the School of Law and contribute to the research and publication profile of the department.
The Person
Substantial experience of teaching on academic and/or professional training courses
Knowledge of two foundations of legal knowledge subjects, and practical legal skills
Experience of teaching in higher education
Ability to teach on undergraduate and post-graduate courses in Law
Ability to undertake research work relevant to the field and to agreed targets
Ability and willingness to work in teaching and curriculum development
Ability and willingness to contribute to teaching teams
Links with sector, including courts, firms, chambers and law centres
Ability to work as a member of a team with shared goals
