The purpose of the role is to plan and deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment in either GCSE or functional skills Maths to learners across a range of curriculum areas including 16-18 study programme and adult provision. The postholder will undertake administrative and developmental duties that contribute to improving standards and achievements and maximise the learner experience within their mathematics study.
KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
To deliver high quality innovative and engaging teaching, learning and assessment to a range of learners as part of their programme of study by:
- planning, preparing, teaching and assessing as required by your line manager providing students with a well-planned, sufficiently individualised learning and assessment experience;
- effectively managing and monitoring the learning process;
- proving regular assessment opportunities;
- providing timely and constructive feedback;
- guiding and supporting learners to achieve their learning goals.
To work within the Maths team to proactively raise learner aspirations and improve achievements for all learners from their starting points
To conduct initial and diagnostic assessments of all learners to determine starting points and develop learning plans to enable them to make progress from their starting points
To conduct milestone assessments as agreed with the Head of Maths and provide feedback within the agreed timescale, ensuring feedback supports learners to improve
To teach an agreed programme of hours across any of the campuses including revision and intervention sessions
Produce and develop teaching resources to support your delivery including schemes of work and lesson plans.
Keep accurate and timely information about learner attendance, achievement and progress to be shared with the Head of Maths, Curriculum Managers and Directors, parents and learners.
To liaise and work with vocational teams and Curriculum Leaders to address issues with learner attendance, behaviour and engagement in order to maximise progress and achievements
To attend staff meetings to develop and improve the curriculum
Support learner progress evenings through the production of reports and meeting with parents and vocational teaching teams
To take part in administrative activities to support the learning of Maths delivery by supporting the collection and collation of data relating to learner's entry qualifications when establishing groups at the start of the year and in ensuring group lists are accurate and up to date throughout the year
Take part in verification and standardisation activities where required
Keep up to date with developments and qualifications in the areas of maths
Where appropriate, liaise with other departments (e.g. Exams and MIS).

Pay: 25,599.00-39,725.00 per year
